Cable Engineering

  • Overview
    Cable Engineering Services is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the University telecommunications cable systems and network infrastructure. Cable Engineering performs all the physical Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) to the telecommunication systems as well as providing cabling services and design assistance to campus units.

    The TelCom Cable Engineering Services Office is located at 101 University Dr. Suite B1, next to the Amherst Post Office. [ Campus Map ]

  • In Detail
    Cable Engineering Services' main function is performing the Moves, Adds, and Changes to the telecommunication system in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Our staff of technicians and electricians are constantly on the go all over campus, installing and/or moving telephones and related services, repairing problems, and doing ongoing maintenance.

    Cable Engineering Services is responsible for the campus telecommunications infrastructure, which includes copper and fiber-optic cables in campus buildings and underground. We provide planning and design for renovation and new construction, and for new services too.
