Systems Office

    The Systems Office can answer questions about your monthly telecommunications bill and long distance services. We also can provide you with information about establishing an "800" number on campus.

    The TelCom Systems Office is located at 101 University Dr. Suite B1, next to the Amherst Post Office. [ Campus Map ]

  • In Detail
    The Systems Office maintains a database that contains information about:
  • Cabling (the wires that connect your phone to the phone system)
  • Telephones (model, location, features, and the person using it)
  • Tau pathing (how your Terminal Adapter Unit is connected to the phone system)
  • This program keeps track of and prices all calls for the University, and provides information for the on-line directory used by the University Operators. It is also used to create Move Add and Change orders (MACs) for many diverse services. This information is used to produce the University telephone bill.

  • University calling cards
  • Long-distance abuse tracking

  • The Systems Office is also in charge of checking University phone bills for accuracy. This is done to ensure accurate charges and the identification of possible methods of long-distance abuse.
