Local Calling Areas Expanded

Calls from UMass to several towns which used to be long distance are now local. Telecommunication Services started billing the new local rates April 1.

Calls from UMass are now local to the following areas: Ashfield, Bernardston, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Greenfield, Heath, Millers Falls, Monroe Bridge, Northfield, Shelburne Falls, Turners Falls, Orange and Athol (978-575 exchange, only).

To dial any of these exchanges from on-campus, simply dial "9," and the seven digit telephone number. If you have any questions regarding this change, or experience problems calling, please call TelCom customer service at 545-2171.
