INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AFFECTING SOME CALLS COMING FROM OFF-CAMPUS
[Creation Date: 05-Nov-08]
The Amherst campus PBX system is experiencing occasional call problems where calls arriving from off-campus would fail intermittently affecting some callers. A number of our Verizon trunks terminate in the residential telephone switch and some calls coming in from
off-campus are routed via those trunks by Verizon. The residential switch then routes these calls over to the administrative side if
necessary; consequently, calls to administrative numbers arriving from off-campus may be routed via the residential PBX and may also
experience difficulties. Reports indicate that some callers heard "All trunks are busy" announcements when trying to reach an on-campus
extension.
UMass staff and Black Box/Aastra support are working to resolve the issue promptly. In the event your call fails, please hang up and try
your call again. Thank you for your patience.
