Dialing Instructions

Type of Call Description

On-Campus

Dial the last five digits of the on-campus phone number:
6-XXXX for residential, 5-XXXX or 7-XXXX for administrative.

Local Off-Campus

Dial 9 and the local seven-digit phone number (you will not hear a second dial tone after entering the 9.)

Local Calling Area
The Communities in the local calling area are: Amherst, Ashfield, Belchertown, Bernardston, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Greenfield, Hadley, Hatfield, Heath, Holyoke, Millers Falls, Monroe Bridge, Montague, Northampton (includes Florence), Northfield, Shelburne Falls, Deerfield, South Hadley, and Turner Falls.
For Athol, only the 575 exchange within the 978 area code is a local call. All other Athol exchanges are long distance calls.

Long Distance & International

The PAETEC Communications Long Distance Program for the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus expired on July 1, 2009.

Students can continue to access their account at campuslink.paetec.com

There are no long distance or international calling programs provided at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Calling cards with local or toll-free access numbers can continue to be used for long distance calling.
